19 Bangladeshis arrested from Murshidabad
Kolkata/Baharampur, May 30 (UNI) Altogether 19 Bangladeshi nationals, claimed to be coming from Jaipur, have been arrested by West Bengal police at Raninagar in Murshidabad district on their way back to the neighbouring nation.
'' The members of the group, including a few women and children, were arrested on Wednesday for not having proper papers. They have been remanded to police custody after being produced in the court today, '' Superintendent of Police Basab Dasgupta said.
The arrested claimed to police that they were engaged in stone crushing work in Jaipur, the SP said.
'' We are investigating into their connection and antecedents, '' Mr Dasgupta said.
A serial bomb blast that ripped through the pink city on May 13 killed at least 60 people and left more than 150 injured.
Police suspected the blast to be the handiwork of the Bangladesh-based terrorist outfit Harkat-ul-Jihadi-al-Islami(HuJI).
