Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) The first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government, which is to be sworn in tomorrow in Karnataka, will bring about overall development of the state on the lines of Gujarat, Chief Minister designate B S Yeddyurappa said today.
Speaking to newspersons during his visit to Adichunchanagiri Mutt, about 100 km from here, he said the spectacular development achieved in Gujarat had become a national model and it could be adopted in Karnataka and there was nothing wrong in it.
''I will follow the path laid by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and take the state towards development,'' he said.
He also said he would stand by all sections of the society, irrespective of caste or religion and would ensure that the people lived in peace.
He added he would initiate talks with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the contentious Hogenakkal drinking water project on the boarders in Chamarajanagar district.
He would also try his best to resolve the long standing border row with Maharashtra with the help of the Centre.
The BJP government would roll out various programmes for farmers in the field of animal husbandry and implement new irrigation projects. It would also ensure disbursal of farm loans at three per cent interest and proper supply of seeds and fertilisers. ''We want to end the disturbing farmer suicides,'' he said.
Earlier, speaking at Yediyur, after offering ''pooja'' to his family deity, he said his party would never resort to ''revenge politics'' despite it being betrayed by a political party earlier.
''I don't want to disappoint the people by indulging in revenge politics, instead focus on implementing various welfare projects and meet the aspirations of the people,'' he said.
