Visakhapatnam, May 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Medical Education and Health Insurance Minister G Aruna Kumari today said the Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance scheme would be implemented throughout the State from July.
Addressing newspersons before inaugurating various blocks at the Government King George Hospital (KGH) here, she said Rs 380 crore had been spent from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in the State under the scheme, being implemented in 13 districts, and around 31,000 surgeries have been performed at the cost of Rs 130 crore.
Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna, who was also present, said that during the last four years, the Congress Government had invested Rs 26 crore on KGH and another Rs 19 crore would be invested for taking up various developmental works.
The Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), a super speciality hospital, would be completed soon as the works were progressing at a steady pace. The State Government had sanctioned Rs 55 crore for the construction of five blocks, he said.
