Jammu, May 29 (UNI) A star-studded Manipur were held to a goalless draw by gritty Nagaland in a thrilling Cluster II encounter while at the 62nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy here today.
Manipur, who are one of the favourites for the title, dominated the proceedings, mounting several good attacks but could not convert their opportunities as the nagas remained unbreakable.
Manipur have one win and a draw and are leading their group with four points.
In the morning session, Orissa drew with services 1-1 in a Cluster I match played at the Maulana Azad Stadium.
S Raleng converted his chance into a fine goal in the 33rd minute of the first half while Orissa footballer Gyan Ranjan Samal scored an equalizer in the 34th minute. Despite hard efforts from both the ends, the second half remained goalless.
Services are leading Cluster I with four points.
The tournament is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
