Lord Nelson's death spot is in wrong place!

London, May 29 : For many years, tourists have stood and stared at the spot where Lord Nelson took his last breath on HMS Victory - but the plaque marking the spot where he died is in the wrong place.

The hero, who died at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, actually passed away 25ft to the right.

The Victory's curator Peter Goodwin made the discovery after studying a painting of the admiral's death done soon after.

Now, the ship - visited by 400,000 tourists a year- will cover the memorial, which has marked the wrong spot since 1900.

The new spot will be unveiled on June 21 in Portsmouth, Hants.

"Wherever he died on that deck doesn't change the reverence we have for the deck or the man," The sun quoted Captain John Scivier, commanding officer of the Victory, as saying.
