Huge diamond fetches $46mln at Christie's auction in Hong Kong
Sydney, May 29 : A huge 101.27-carat diamond has been sold for a record 46.2 million dollars at a Christie's auction in Hong Kong.
The squash ball-size diamond is the largest colourless stone to be auctioned in Asia, according to the Government-run radio station RTHK.
The radio report also said that the identity of the diamond's purchaser was not being revealed.
It, however, added that the private buyer would have the option of naming the diamond, reported to be the most expensive single piece of jewellery sold in Asia.
Christie's said that the stone was set in a tiara, and was the biggest colourless diamond to be auctioned anywhere in the world for 18 years, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
