By Staff

Srinagar, May 29 (UNI) Title contenders Goa outplayed Uttrakhand 3-1 in their final league encounter in the 62nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy here today.

The winners had to wait for 18 minutes for the first goal despite making a number of moves. Fredy Mascrenhas drew the first blood for Goa when he put the ball into the net after defeating the rival goalkeeper.

Petter Valno consolidated the lead scoring another goal in the 60th minute.

Uttrakhand made several attempts on the opposite goal but failed to hit the target, mainly because of some good saves by the Goan goalkeeper.

However, Joaqum Abranches netted for the winners shortly before the long whistle.
