Patna, May 29: In order to address the problem of shortage of coins while purchasing tickets, the East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to install a coin-exchange machine, funded by the Punjab National Bank (PNB), at the Patna junction.
ECR sources said here yesterday that the passengers had to face problems at Railway stations because of non-availability of coins.
Consequently, the ECR had decided to install the coin-exchange machine with the help of the PNB.
''The passengers would now be able to insert currency notes of several denominations and receive coins of one, two and five rupees in return,'' the sources added.
These services were in operation at several railway stations in the country, including the commercial capital Mumbai.
After successful implementation at Patna junction the coin exchange machine would also be installed at different railway junctions under the ECR, sources informed.
