Case booked against TDP for violating poll code

Adilabad, May 29 (UNI) The District Police today booked a case against the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for violating the model code of conduct while polling was in progress at Kagaz Nagar in Adilabad Parliamentary constituency by-election.

Speaking to UNI over the phone, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kumar said a case was registered against the TDP for violating the election code by distributing voter slips with the TDP symbol and printed text, urging the voters to vote in favour of the party.

Stating that another two cases were booked at Muttvole and Khanapur villages in connection with the violation of poll code, he said 28 cases related to the illegal transportation of liquor were booked in the last three days in the constitutency.

The bypoll was necessitated in Adilabad Lok Sabha seat after the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) MP T Madhusudhan Reddy resigned from the membership along with three MPs, 16 MLAs and three MLCs in March.
