BJP floor leader, 60 activists arrested
Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh BJP floor leader G Kishan Reddy and 60 other party activists were arrested when the byelection was in progress at Musheerabad Assembly constitutency for allegedly violating the election code.
Police said Mr Reddy was arrested when he was roaming in the constitutency without a valid pass and permission from the Election Commission. The angered BJP activists staged a dhrana in front of the Musheerbad police station in protest against their leader's arrest.
As the mild tension prevailed at the police staiton, the special police were deployed at the dharna site and they arrested the agitating BJP activists along with the leader. They were sent to Goshamahal stadium.
Mr Reddy alleged that the police and the ruling Congress had terrorised the voters in the constituency and he was arrested without any valid reason even after he got car pass and permission from the Election Commission to visit the constituencies where the polling was scheduled in the city.
