Security tightened in all Manipur govt offices
Imphal, May 28: The Manipur government has tightened security in all its offices in view of the agitation launched by the Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYF) in protest against the arrest of its President, Sapamcha Kangleipal.
The MAFYF has been demanding unconditional release of its President, Sapamcha Kangleipal, who was recently held for opposing the government's decision to provide arms to the civilians.
Home Department, Principal Secretary, D S Poonia today said strict majors have been taken at all government offices in view of the protest. He has also asked all the Superintendents of Police, Unit Commandants and Officer-in charge of police stations to maintain proper coordination among themselves to avert any untoward incidents.
The Fire department has also been alerted, Mr Poornia said, adding that police patrolling has been intensified in the all sensitive areas.
He said MAFYF members have been attacking government offices and announced a major agitation if their President was not released immediately.
