Rifat Sarosh, Hakim Azmal Khan awarded
Chandigarh, May 28 (UNI) Noted Urdu poet Rifat Sarosh and Mewati writer Hakim Azmal Khan were among the litterateurs who were awarded by the Haryana Urdu Akademi here today.
Hakim Azmal Khan from Mewat was given the Hali Award which carries a cash amount of Rs one lakh, a shawl, a memento and a citation.
Rifat Sarosh was given Kanwar Mohinder Singh Bedi Socio-culture award with a cash amount of Rs 25,000, a shawl, a memento and a citation.
Dr Sajida Zaidi got Sabir Dutt Award which carries a cash amount of Rs 25,000 while Prof Satya Parkash Sharma Tafta Zari was given S M H Burney Award with a cash amount of Rs 21,000.
Khwaja Ahmad Abbas Award was honoured with Des Raj Sapra carrying an amount of Rs 21,000 while Ms Safia Shad was given Munshi Gumani Lal Award with a cash component of Rs 11,000.
Dr Savita Malhotra got Surinder Pandit Soz Award which carries an amount of Rs 11,000.
Kundan Arawali, Azad Sonepati, Dr A V Bharati Adik, Kamaruddin Zakir, Dr Nasiruddin Azhar, Maikash Ambalvi, Dr Devendra Kafir, Satya Pal Ashk, B D Kalia Humdum, Ms Namita Rakesh and Rajender Verma were also honoured by Haryana Governor A R Kidwai for their books in Urdu.
