Kargil, May 28 (UNI) As many as 14,554 families have been identified for providing employment under National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) in the border district of Kargil in Ladakh region.
This was disclosed by Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Haji Mohammad Ishaq on second day of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign here today.
The day was dedicated to Rural Development, Health, Agriculture and allied sectors.
The Executive Councilor said for providing hundred days of guaranteed employment to each identified family an amount of Rupees 9.62 crore have been projected for the current year.
He said under SGARY by the end of March 2008, Rs 15.28 crore were spent in the district and 2,802 works were completed.
Under Indira Awas Yojana, 1,796 families have benefitted in Kargil district. Similarly, under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sarak Yojana (PMGSY), four roads are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.42 crore.
An official spokesman said 231 Ashas have been engaged in Kargil district under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Out of them, 187 have been trained.
