ICC panel umpire A V Jayaprakash hangs up his umpiring coat

Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) ICC panel umpire A V Jayaprakash who has officiated in 13 tests and 38 one day internationals today retired from umpiring after the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Mr Jayaprakash, a successful cricketer who played for Karnataka in the 1970s and 80s, incidentally officiated in the Delhi test match in which Indian Test team captain Anil Kumble took 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan to equal the world record of Jim Lacker.

Mr Jayaprakash was honoured by the Association of Cricket Umpires of Karnataka and the office bearers of Karnataka Cricket Association which included its President Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar and Secretary Brijesh Patel.

The players of Mumbai Indians and Bangalore Royal Challengers also feted the retiring umpire before the match.
