Eye tracking software to give window shoppers their product of choice
London, May 28 : Electronics giant Philips has come up with an innovative way of marketing its products - Gaze tracking shop windows.
The concept behind using the technology is to determine which items in the window the shoppers are staring at, then to display enlarged pictures, a slide show or other information about those items on nearby computer screens.
The company is hoping to track the gaze of window shoppers by applying the technology to displays in shop windows, reports New Scientist.
Eye tracking software has become a mature technology that works effectively in many real situations.
According to Philips, the system could also be used in museums and art galleries to provide visitors with extra information, as they need it.
