Hyderabad, May 28 (UNI) The Election Commission asked City Police Commissioner B Bhaskara Rao to submit a report on the clash between the Congress and CPI(M) activists today.
State BC Welfare Minister M Mukhesh Goud allegedly manhandled CPI(M) MP P Madhu at Chikadapali in Musheerabad Assembly constitutency where a byelection is scheduled for tomorrow, leading to the clash.
The Congress workers were stopped from allegedly distributing money to the voters by the CPI(M) activists, police said.
When the Left acitivists started arguing with the Congress workers and clashed, Mr Goud entered the scene along with Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and Hyderabad Congress Committee President D Nagendar. The police had to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse the mob.
Meanwhile, taking serious note of the incident and electoral malpractises, State Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao asked the police to book cases against those who distributed money to the voters and submit a report to it immediately.
