BJP terms Mayawati regime ''Talibani Raj''
Lucknow, May 28 (UNI) Terming the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime as ''Talibani Raj'', leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) today said the law and order machinery has totally failed, with the increase in crime in Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP assailed the ruling BSP government for indulging in ''appeasement policy'' and supporting the ''law violators'' in the state, adding heinous crimes like murder and rape had increased in the state, with the BSP supporters violating rules and regulation.
Even the police had turned into a ''silent observer'', they alleged.
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Ramapati Tripathi and leader Om Prakash Singh said in a statement that the Mayawati Government was ''blindly supporting'' people of a particular class, due to which the general public was living in fear.
Under its appeasement policy, the Uttar Pradesh Government was backing anti-social elements and goons in the state. The state was no longer safe for women and the commom man, they alleged.
Mentioning the horrendous murder incident in Meerut, where three students were publicly hacked to death by a BSP supporter, the leaders said Uttar Pradesh was turning into a breeding ground for goons and mafias.
The BJP leaders demanded the arrest of the culprit in the Meerut massacre and he be booked under the under National Security Act(NSA).
