Hyderabad, May 28: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) SSP Yadav today said 63,093 police personnel and 150 companies of central paramilitary forces have been deployed in nine districts and in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, where the bypoll for 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats are scheduled to be held tomorrow.
Addressing the media here, Mr Yadav said the forces were drawn from districts not going to the polls in the State. The forces have taken up position in the allotted areas to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of the byelections.
Of the 4,965 villages, 965 were identified as hyper sensitive, 1,683 as sensitive, 54 as troublesome and 1,025 villages as extremist-affected and inaccessible villages, he said, adding that special law and order arrangements have been made at these villages to ward off any trouble. The Government had allocated Rs 11 crore to meet the expenses.
Stating that large scale vehicular support was provided for the mobility of all teams, Mr Yadav said 958 mobile parties, covering 919 routes, 302 striking forces and 148 special striking forces, 178 check posts, including at Maharashtra and Karnataka borders, have been established to react to law and order contingencies.
The official said 9,589 licensed firearms have been deposited in the election districts. All the offenders in election-related cases (of earlier elections) have been arrested as a preventive measure and case chargesheeted. As many as 365 non-bailable warrants against past election offenders and those involved in bodily offences have been executed to keep the anti-social elements under check.
A total of 508 cases have been registered in the election districts in the pre-poll period. Of this, 123 cases related to violation of the election code of conduct. About 600 people were arrested in connection with the above cases.
