Kashmir hosts national football championship
Srinagar, May 26, 2008: Kashmir hosted the national football championship, Santosh Trophy, on Sunday (May 25) after a span of three decades.State chief Ghulam Nabi Azad kicked off the tournament at the Baisakhi stadium in summer capital Srinagar.
A total of 31 states and union territories will compete for the top honours in the 62nd edition of the national football event. Hosts Jammu and Kashmir trounced minnows Puducherry 2-0 as the inaugural match drew hordes of spectators.
