UPCC demands probe into misuse of Central funds in UP
Lucknow, May 27 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) today charged the Maywati-led UP government with misusing funds released by the Centre for development projects in the state and demanded an official probe into the same.
UPCC chief spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh here said the UPA government had always extended financial help to the state, still the growth rate was stagnant in UP.
Funds in crores had poured in UP, however, the growth rate did not exceed over four per cent, he said.
Blaming Mayawati government for the dismal condition of the state, Mr Singh said, ''people of UP are being barred from Central government schemes and financial help. The Centre keeps on pooling in money for development of the state, however, the BSP government does not even provides 10 per cent of it to the people.'' Quoting the official figure, Mr Singh said the Planning Commission had given Rs 9,661 crore to the state after UPA government came to power, however, the amount had swollen to Rs 35,000 crore recently.
UP had received maximum funds in comparision to other states, however, it had spent it in making parks for beloved ones, he asserted.
