Two commit suicide in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 27: Two people committed suicide in the Kashmir Valley overnight, official sources said today.
A girl and another person made similar attempts yesterday in the Valley.
They said one Manzoor Ahmad Sofi consumed some poisonous substance in his Nambla house at Uri. However, he was shifted to a hospital after he fell unconscious.
Later, he died in the hospital, the sources said.
Manzoor Ahmad Khan (19) also consumed poison in his Sonabrari house in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared brougth dead.
The trend of committing suicide among the people in Kashmir, particuarly women and youth, has registered an increase despite a fatwa by Muslim Ulema against it.
The Ulema declared it an un-Islamic act and against the teachings of holy Prophet.
