Jammu, May 27: Outstanding performances by Shaji Disilva and L B Victor helped Services sail ahead in the league round as they demolished Nagaland by 8-0 in the ongoing 62nd National Football Championship for the Santosh trophy played at the Maulana Azad stadium here.
Both the teams had a good start but the Services Team loaded with International players dominated the first half. Services struck in the 20th minute as Shaji Disilva converted a keen pass near the penalty area. Leading 1-0, Services kept attacking their rivals and after five minutes, S Raleng scored the second goal of the first half from the right wing. However, looking for a breakthrough, Nagas despite hard efforts and having some close opportunities remained unsuccessful in converting them.
Meanwhile, the second half resumed with vibrant attacks from the services and they scored six more goals leaving their opponents in shambles.
Gorden Z (45th), L B Victor (63 rd and 81st) and Shaji Disilva (71st) converted their chances to fashion the Services victory.
The tournament is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association under the aegis of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
