Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) To commemorate the 44th death anniversary of first Prime Minister of India Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru a function was organised here today at Punjab Congress Bhawan.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Rajinder Kaur Bhattal offered floral tributes to the late leader.
In her tribute to Pandit Nehru, Ms Bhattal said that "Pandit Nehru who envisioned the industrial growth of the country through government partnership with the developed countries laid sound foundations for the growth of the country which was left in shambles by the Britishers." "The temples of modern India like Bhakra Dam, the Hirakud Project, Giant Steel Plants in Bokaro and Bhilai are tributes to his great vision for the country." "The 'apostle of peace', as he was termed by his contemporaries around the world laid strong foundations for the democratic, secular and socialist Republic of India which speak volumes of his statesmanship. The path of peace and harmony among all countries enshrined in the principles of Panchseel are still relevant," said Ms Bhattal.
