Bhubaneswar, May 27 (UNI) An advocate pleading for Naxalite cases was summoned by the left wing ultras from his house near MV 79 in Malkangiri district yesterday and shot dead inside a dense forest.
Malkangiri Superintendent of Police S K Gojbhiye told UNI over phone today the two Naxalites arrived at advocate Prabir Mohanty's house last night and asked him to come to the forest for some discussion.
The advocate quietly followed the naxalites along with his servant to the nearby jungle, where two more naxalites joined them, he said adding that the servant was asked to leave immediately after they reached the forest.
The SP further stated that though the servant left the place but stayed in the forest and heard bullet sound after a while.
He then rushed to the place and found Mr Mohanty in a pool of blood.
Mr Gojbhiye said the servant informed the incident to the police only this morning adding that the Mr Mohanty's body was yet to be recovered from the spot as the ultras have heavily covered with landmines.
''The police force will first clear the landmines and try to reach the place to recover the body,'' he further informed.
Police sources said the advocate had an affair with a tribal lady, who also gave birth to a baby.
''The advocate and the tribal lady had a dispute over the issue and this perhaps was the reason why he was targetted by the rebels,'' Mr Gojbhiye added.
