Meghalaya govt bans cell phones usage in schools, colleges

Shillong, May 27: The Meghalaya government has banned the use of mobile phones and consumption of tobacco in all educational insitutions of the state.

Official sources said here today that a notification, banning use of cell phones and consumption of all kinds of tobacco products in educational institutions, had been issued to all the heads of schools and colleges in the state.

The decision was taken after the consensus that it was improper to allow the use of cell phones inside classrooms as it could affect the concentration of students.

The intake of all kinds of intoxicants inside schools and colleges was also prohibited as it is injurious to health.

The step to infuse a sense of discipline among the students was also taken.
