Kathmandu, May 27: The meeting of the Nepali Congress (NC), the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and the Maoists has ended inconclusively, as leaders have differed over ways to resolve the deadlock in Nepal.

According to Nepalnews, the Maoists had presented a nine-point proposal at the meeting. It proposed that the Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala should be the officiating head of state till the drafting of the new Constitution. The Maoists have said that if a President is to be appointed, both positions of the President and the Prime Minister should go to the Maoist, as it is the single largest party after the April 10 Constituent Assembly Elections. The party has also proposed to end the paramilitary character of the Young Communist League (YCL) and bring their People's Liberation Army (PLA) under the government for integration and rehabilitation.

The Maoists have said that if other parties do not agree with their proposal, they will form the government themselves. The meeting also formed a committee to prepare a draft for implementing the declaration of the republic.
