Mumbai, May 27 (UNI) A man and his girl friend were convicted today, for abetting his wife to commit suicide, at Kanjurmarg here, last year.
While pronouncing the judgement here, Additional Session Court Judge M Y Mankar said accused Kiran Kamble and his girl friend Vaishali Pawar were being convicted for abetting the former's wife and deceased Neelam Kamble (26), to commit suicide on July 1, by hanging herself.
Judge Mankar sentenced Kiran to five years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and directed him to pay fine of Rs 10,000. If he fails to pay the amount, he will have to undergo further six months RI.
Vaishal Pawar has also been sentenced to one-years RI and directed to pay fine of Rs 5,000. In case, she fails to pay the fine, she will have to suffer two months simple imprisonment.
Neelam's mother-in-law and sister-in-laws, who were also accused in the case, were acquitted from all the charges, by the court, due to lack of evidence, Additional Public Prosecutor Kalpana Hire said.
