Chennai, May 27 (UNI) The Baichung Bhutia led Indian team won the friendly two match series 1-0, holding Chinest Taipei to a 2-2 draw in the second at the Nehru Stadium here today.
India had won the first match 3-0 in Goa last week.
In today's match, striker P Pradeep's scintillating display enabled India to come back into the match.
The match was marked by action for much of the first half and was dreary in the second with neither team able to crack the rival defence.
The Chinese Taipei team went ahead as early as the fourth minute through Chen Po Liyang. But Pradeep found the equaliser for the team with a smooth header.
India trailed again when in the 48th minute, Hsie Hmeng Hsuan found the net. But Pradeep restored parity again with a neat push off a long ball which resulted in a goal mouth melee. Pradeep hoodwinked the rival custodian(2-2).
However, in the rest of the session, India forced a couple of chances but the strikers failed to find the target.
The friendly series was part the Bob Houghton trained Indian team's preparation for the forthcoming SAF Cup, followed by a tour to Portugal and the AFC Challengers Cup.
