Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) Haryana State Athletic Association clinched the first position in boys section by winning 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze in 5th National Youth Athletic Championship held at Pune from May 22-24.
Sudhir Kumar of Haryana created a New National Record in the long jump with a leap of 7.39 mts by breaking his own record of 7.33 mts.
Haryana got second place in overall medal tally in the 8th Federation Cup Junior National Athletic Championship and 5th National Youth Athletic Championship winning by 14 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze next to Kerala which won 18 gold, 17 Silver and 8 Bronze.
The medal winners of Haryana are 8th Federation Cup Junior Athletic Championship: Naveen Kumar (Gold) in shot put and discus, Pradeep(Gold) 10km race walk, Rakesh (Silver) decathlon, Sunny (Silver) Pole Vault, Savita Dhankhar (Gold) 3000m, Rinku Sangwan (Gold) Discus, Poonam (Gold) javelin, Manisha (Silver) discus, Mamta (Silver) 10 km race walk, Rinku Sangwan (Bronze) shot put.
5th National Youth Athletic Championship: Parveen Kumar (Gold) 400m, Sudhir Kumar (Gold) long jump, Devender Singh (Gold) pole vault, Akash Antil (Gold) discus, Virender Singh (Gold) javelin, Medlay Relay (Gold), Dharamveer Singh (Silver) 200 and 400m, Parveen Kumar (Silver) 400m hurdle, Naresh Antil (Silver) shotput, Paramjeet (Silver) 400m, Promila (Gold)discus, Reena Kumari (Silver) hammer, Anju Rathi (Bronze) javelin.
