The Court, after hearing the arguments, stayed the arrest of Joginderpal Jain and nine others up to July 17.

The case was registered by the police on the complaint of one Guriqbal Singh alleging that Jain and his supporters fired upon the Akali Dal activists during the polling yesterday at Rammonwal Kalan.

The Congress MLA said that he had sent his complaint with all the facts through fax late last evening to Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana High Court, DGP Punjab, Elections Comission Punjab, Elections observer for the district, the DC and SSP Moga and DIG police Ferozepur Range demanding a thorough probe.

Meanwhile, Punjab Pradesh Congress President and leader of the opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal strongly criticised the role of Moga police for ''falsely implicating Congress MLA in the attempt to murder case''.

She said that she had convened a meeting of the state executive and MLAS at Chandigarh where the issue would also be taken up.
