London, May 27 : Footie ace David Beckham was put on hold for 40 minutes when he called a paralysed BMX rider to wish him well.
Becks first heard about injured BMX rider Stephen Murray while at a competition in Los Angeles.
He got Murray's contact details and decided to call to wish him well.
Murray's pal Chris Mason reveals that Becks had to wait nearly an hour to speak to him.
"He was in the middle of rehab and told the staff to ask the caller to ring back because he was busy," The Sun quoted Mason, as saying.
"But they said it was important. So it took 20 minutes to get Stephen in his chair and another 20 to get to the phone and start the Bluetooth so he could speak.
"Beckham waited patiently. Stephen didn't believe it was David Beckham but then it dawned on him.
"They talked for half an hour. Beckham wished him well and asked to be updated on his progress. The call made his day."
