Sagar, MP, May 27: Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Minister Anoop Mishra has said the government has succeeded in ensuring all-round development of the state in its past four-and-half years of rule.
Mr Mishra, while speaking on the occasion of 'bhoomi poojan' of Rs 14 crore Upper Chandia water reservoir at Shahgarh in Sagar district, said construction of the water reservoir would irrigate 1,368 hectare land.
''Under the present government, total irrigated area has increased by 13 lakh hectare from 21 lakh hectare to 34 lakh hectare. Meanwhile, departmental budget has been increased from Rs 455 crore to Rs 2,400 crore,'' he said.
Referring to development works carried out by the government, Mr Mishra said about 40,000 km roads have been repaired.
The Water Resource Minister also laid foundation of re-construction work of Vinayaka, Tigoda, Baraitha and Narayanpur water reservoirs.
Local MLA Harnam Singh and MP Virendra Singh were also present.
