AIDWA writes to Mayawati on police handling of Aarushi murder
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The All India Women's Association (AIDWA) today demanded strict action against the Uttar Pradesh Police officials who have indulged in ''most objectionable forms of character assassination'' while handling the Aarushi murder case.
In a letter to the UP Chief Minister Mayawati, AIDWA President Suhasini Ali said the performance of the state police had been of the worst and lowest kind.
''The officers of the UP Police have given the worst exhibition of patriarchial prejudice and insentitivity in their handling of the case. They have not even spared Aarushi who is no longer alive to defend herself.'' Terming their behaviour as ''inappropriate, libellious and atrocious,'' she said the police officials have regularly used the print and electronic media to make the most ''outrageous and unsubstantiated'' allegations against Aarushi, her mother and family friend Anita Durani and called upon Ms Mayawati to ensure that they are punished.
