UPA-Left meeting on Indo-US Nuclear deferred
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The UPA-Left Coordination Committee meeting, scheduled to be held on May 28, has been deferred till first half of June, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here today.
''The UPA-Left meeting has been deferred to first half of June...,'' the External Affairs Minister told reporters on the sidelines of a function held to mark the dedication of site for a South Asian University.
Replying to a question on the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement he said it had to go through several stages.
The first stage was the 123 agreement, the second was to obtain approval of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about India-specific Safeguards and the third stage was the NSG approval.
The next stage could be reached only after the earlier stages were crossed, he said and added that the fourth stage was to take up with the US Congress only after all these stages are covered.
