South Asian University to be ready by 2010, site dedicated
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said India will explore the possibilities of implementing some ideas that came up at the meetings with Pakistani leaders during his recent visit to Islamabad.
The External Affairs Minister who visited Islamabad on May 20-21, held meeting with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and political leaders including PML(N) Chief Nawaz Sharif and PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The Minister told reporters on the sidelines of a function here to mark the dedication of site for a South Asian University that during the visit he had met Mr Sharif and Mr Zardari.
Lots of new ideas were discussed during the meetings and many of the ideas floated would take concrete shape.
''We will definitely explore the possibility to make some of them a reality...,'' he said in reply to a question.
Earlier, in his address after dedicating the site for the South-Asian University at Maidan Garhi on the outskirts on Delhi, the Minister said the university would remind South Asian leaders of the commitment to implement the SAARC principles from a declaratory phase l to the implementation stage, The university will begin its first session in 2010 and have 5000 students and an international faculty. It will be linked with universities in other SAARC countries.
