Mysore, May 26 (UNI) Infosys CEO and MD, K Gopalakrishnan today said that the IT major would help educational institutions to scale up the standard of education by providing training to the faculty.

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of inauguration of 'Indo-US leadership programme' at the Infosys campus here, he said, ''there is demand for senior faculty members in various engineering institutions within the country and it is necessary to train the present faculty members for effective teaching and learning.'' PANIIT India, umbrella alumni organisation of all the seven IITs, as part of its nation-building objectives has partnered with Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) today and began an eight-week Engineering Faculty Leadership Programme.

This 'train the trainer' programme is the outcome of the joint collaboration of leading US and Indian universities and is being held under the aegis of Infosys.

Speaking on the occasion Emeritus University of Massachusetts Professor and Dean and IUCEE Executive Director, Krishna Vedula said under the initiative, faculty experts from renowned US institutions would train Indian faculty, using latest teaching and learning tools. The Indian faculty in turn would take the lead and conduct similar training workshops for junior engineering faculty in their respective regions and colleges.
