Govt honours ''Arzi Hukumat Movement'' participants of Junagadh
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The government today honoured participants of the Arzi Hukumat Movement, who agitated in 1947 against the decision of the then Nawab of Junagadh to accede to Pakistan.
Minister of State for Home Shakeel Ahmad gave away a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a letter of appreciation each to 48 Arzi Senanis or their eligible dependents at a function at Junagadh in Gujarat today.
The patriotic fervour of the participants of this significant movement against Junagadh's accession to Pakistan reflected the sentiments, courage, heroism and lofty ideas of thousands of freedom fighters, a statement by the Home Ministry said here.
The participants of the Arzi Hukumat Movement were honoured for their contribution towards India's independence and consolidation of its territorial integrity.
