Explosion near convention centre in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, May 26 (UNI) At least two bombs went off this evening near the southern gate of Birendra International Convention Center where the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting is scheduled to take place from Wednesday.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected Constituent Assembly members will be held at the centre tomorrow, a day before the CA meeting that will declare the end of the monarchy in Nepal.
No casualties have been reported by the explosions.
Two persons riding a motorcycle hurled the socket bombs outside the gate, local media reports said.
A pro-Hindu militant group, Ranabir Sena, had claimed reponsibility for the blasts.
