The prime suspect is servant Mukesh Yadav, who is missing since then, said the police.

''However, his cousin has been detained in order to know the whereabouts of the accused.'' Ashok Goyal (65) and his wife Lata (62) were found dead in a pool of blood at their Neeti Bagh, Greater Kailash, residence this morning by their neighbour Mukesh Bhardwaj, who informed the police.

Mr Bhardwaj was asked by Mr Goyal's daughter Rakhi, presently in Agra, to check her home after her repeated calls went unanswered at about 0930 hrs.

''The couple had been hammered to death and later their throats were slit.'' A hammer and a knife, with blood stains on them, have been recovered from the place of the incident, police added.

Mukesh Yadav, hailing from Bhagalpur in Bihar had been employed by the Goyals just about a fortnight back. His antecedents were yet to be verified.
