Dharam Singh's follower attempts suicide
Gulbarga, May 26 (UNI) Unable to bear the defeat of Former Karnataka Chief Minister N Dharam Singh in the election, a faithful Congress worker attempted suicide by swallowing sleeping pills at Yadrmi Village in Jewargi Taluk today.
Congress party sources told UNI, Shabbir Ali (24), disgusted at the defeat of Mr Singh by a slender margin of 52 votes, attempted to commit suicide. He was rushed to a private hospital.
Mr Singh's son Dr Ajay Singh, District Congress President Allam Prabhu Patil and other leaders, including Mr C B Patil went to the hospital and inquired about Mr Ali's health.
Mr Dharam Singh's dream of creating record by winning the elections for the ninth consecutive term from Jewargi was thrashed as he was defeated by Mr Doddappa Gouda of the BJP.
