AIR begins its new talent hunt
Port Blair, May 26 (UNI) To discover and encourage new and young talents, the All India Radio (AIR) has decided to organise a classical music competition, to be held in two stages.
The preliminary stage will be held in each station of AIR, while the final competition will be held in Delhi and Chennai for the Hindustani and Karnatic music respectively, AIR Programee Executive Sanjib Gain told UNI here today.
Mr Gain said participants between 16 to 24 years of age were allowed in the competition. However, performing music artistes of AIR were not allowed to take part in the talent hunt.
The competition would cover vocal and instrumental music. The preliminary rounder would be held from August 11. Winner of the same will be recorded for the final one, Mr Gain added.
Though the programme might not be so commercialised like other much hyped TV shows but was obviously a step to regain attention classical music lovers.
