Nagpur, May 26 (UNI) Nine people, including a woman and two girls, were killed and 14 others injured in three different accidents in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, police said today.
According to police, the accidents claimed four lives in Wardha district, three in Amravati district and two in Washim district yesterday.
Four persons were killed and eight others injured when a van in which they were travelling was hit by a truck, near Jam in Wardha district, about 60 kms from here.
The victims, returning after a marriage ceremony in Nagpur, were identified as Nisha Khemdas Borkar (32), Nikita Khemdas Borkar (12), Nita Khemdas Borkar (11), all residents of Yavatmal district, and Gajanan Bagde, the driver of the van, police said.
In another mishap, three persons were killed and four others injured when their three-wheeler rammed into an oncoming truck in Amravati district. The victims were identified as Firdos Hussain Liyakat Hussain (30), who was driving the ill-fated three-wheeler, Ganesh Mahadev Pawar (35) and Gajanan Trimbak Tayade (30), they said.
Two persons were killed and two others injured when the three-wheeler, they were travelling in, veered out of control and hit a wayside tree in Washim district, police said. The victims were identified as Mahendrasingh Shankarlal Kundalwal (40) and Praveen Vanwade (22), police added.
