Lucknow, May 26 (UNI) Seventeen persons, including 10 children, were killed and 39 sustained injuries today in separate incidents in UP.
According to police, in Varanasi, mother and son succumbed on the spot and other five were injured after their bus turned turtle in Chaulapur area.
In Fatehpur, four persons were buried alive and two got injured after a mud mound caved-in in Thariyav area, whereas three girls were killed in a similar incident in Karari area of Kaushambi district.
According to police reports from Muzaffarnagar and Unnav, three children drowned in Krishna river, whereas two drowned while bathing in a pond in Asivan area in the districts respectively.
In Sultanpur, two women were killed and 26 were grievously injured, when a overloaded tractor-trolly overturned in Jagdishpur area here.
In Sitapur, A girl was electrocuted and another severly burnt after coming under a high intensity wire in Maholi town here.
In Pratapgarh, three children received serious injuries after a tree fell over them following thunder and storm this afternoon, whereas two persons got injured in Wazirganj area and one in Mahanagar area after the capital city Lucknow was gripped by strong winds.
