Yeddyurappa to be BJP Legislature Party leader
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) A meeting of the newly elected BJP MLAs in Karnataka will formally elect Mr B S Yeddyurappa as the BJP Legislature Party leader paving way for the formation of the first ever BJP Government in the south of Vindhyas.
The BJP Parliamentary Party, which took stock of the developments in the state where the BJP is literally on the doorsteps of power falling short of the magic figure of 113 by merely two MLAs, decided today to send former BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu and BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley as observers.
The party meeting was presided over by BJP president Rajnath Singh and attended by Leader of the Opposition L K Advani among other Parliamentary Board members available in the national capital.
Mr Jaitley told newspersons that the results were on the expected lines where the people of the state had expressed their verdict.
The party will later stake claim with Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur to form the Government, after electing the leader of the BJP Legislature Party.
