By Staff

Hyderabad, May 25 (UNI) An unbeaten 30 run partnership between Akhil (27) and Cameroon White (31) saw Royal Challengers Bangalore score a facile five-wicket win over Deccan Chargers in the return leg match of the DLF Indian Premier League here tonight.

Needing 166 to win, Akhil blasted three sixes and two boundaries off seven balls at the right time to enable the vistors win comfortably.

Akhil, who won for himself the Maximum Sixes Award, was ably supported by White who belted two sixes and one boundary to leave the hosts languish at the bottom of the table.

Vinay Kumar (3/27), who claimed the wickets of Deccan Chargers' skipper Adam Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma and Venugopal Rao to restrict the hosts to 165 was declared the Man of the Match.

Earlier, Royal Chargers skipper Rahul Dravid made a useful 31, hitting a sixer and three boundaries before poking at Sanjay Bangar's delivery outside the offstump to be caught behind by rival captain Gilchrist.

Chasing the target, Royal Challengers were off to a poor start as Wasim Jaffar who was run out for not being quick enough to beat the throw from Arjun Yadav.

Jaques Kallis made a quick fire 31 off 25 balls with the help of six boundaries before he was run out while driving Sanjay Bangar.

Kallis drove it to mid off and Chamara Silva came running in and swooped down on the ball and let it go of the ball in one go as it broke down the stumps Jaffer failed to beat the throw for the second time in succession as he had been running for Kallis.

Misbah-ul-Haq scored a useful 34 of 28 balls hitting a sixer and four hits to the fence. A bowling change paid dividends for the hosts as Misbah-ul-Haq mistimed a short delivery by Ravi Teja to be caught by Chamara Silva.

Virat Kohli(9) threw his wicket getting a top edge trying to hit Vaas to be caught by Raji Teja.
