Islamabad, May 25 (UNI) President of the Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan today rejected the minus one and three-year service formula for reinstatement of deposed judges and restoration of the judiciary as proposed by Pakistan People's Party co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.
''We reject minus one and three-year service formula,'' Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said while addressing lawyers' convention in Faisalabad.
''We want democracy and we are desirous for supremacy of parliament, however, the parliament itself has also to play role for the same purpose,'' The News quoted him as saying.
The PPP's co-Chairperson yesterday unveiled a 62-point Constitutional package to amend the Constitution, which proposed the tenure of Chief Justice of Pakistan to be upto three years, raising protests from the legal fraternity.
The legal community said any attempt to fix a three-year term for the Chief Justice would be unacceptable as that would imply a plan to retire the deposed Iftikhar Chaudhary, whose three years end next month.
He vowed that Long March of lawyers would be arranged on June 10 at any cost.
