seven
people
were
killed
when
an
earthquake
measuring
5.5
on
Richter
scale
struck
Colombian
capital
Bogota
this
morning.
Residents
of
the
city
rushed
out
of
their
homes
in
panic
when
the
tremors
were
felt
at
0050
hours
(Indian
Standard
Time)
IST.
In contrast to the earlier figure, which was measured by the State geological agency Ignominies, on an open-ended Richter scale, the US Geological Survey in Colorado registered the quake at 5.7 on the moment magnitude scale. The epicentre of the quake was about 54 kilometres east-southeast of Bogota, reports said.
