New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) today strongly condemned the brutal police firing on May 23 and 24, killing 35 people and injuring more than a hundred in Rajasthan.
''The BJP government has not learnt any lesson from last year's incidents and completely bungled in tackling the incident,'' a party release said here.
The Rajasthan government had gained notoriety for police firing, it said.
The party urged the Rajasthan government to stop ''police repression'' of the agitators and arrive at an amicable solution to the problem through dialogue with the protesting leaders.
Yesterday, police opened fire to disperse mob of Gujjar protesters at Sikandara in Dausa district while incidents of violence and arson were reported from a number of places protesting police firing in Bayana on May 23.
Police opened fire when other routine means proved to be ineffective in controlling the mob, which was staging a 'rasta roko', suddenly turned violent and resorted to stone pelting, arson and firing.
