Hisar, May 25 (UNI) The Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal today constituted a three-member committee to analyse its dismal defeat in the Gohana assembly byelections.
A three-member panel had been formed to ascertain the reasons behind the massive defeat in Gohana where HJC senior leader Dharam Pal Malik was humbled by Congress candidate Jagbir Singh Malik. The HJC nominee was reduced to the fifth position.
HJC president Kuldeep Singh Bishnoi said the three-member committee would submit its report on the poll outcome soon.
HJC's candidate in Indri constituency Rakesh Kamboj, who was projected as the likely winner in the run-up to the bypoll, was also defeated by Congress nominee Bhim Sen Mehta by a margin of over 5,800 votes.
However, Mr Bishnoi's father Bhajan Lal managed to win his traditional Adampur seat by a margin of over 26,000 votes.
Mr Bishnoi thanked the people of Haryana for their support to his father and the party.
The byelection in all the three constituencies was necessitated due to disqualification of Mr Bhajan Lal (Adaampur) and his two loyalist MLAs Kamboj (Indri) and Malik (Gohana) under the anti-defection law for joining the HJC while remaining in the Congress.
