Mr Lal was leading over his nearest rival Ranjit Singh of the Congress by a margin 18,313 after the fourth round of counting while former finance minister Sampat Singh of the INLD was trailing at the third position.

Mr Bhajan Lal is trying his luck again from this constituency after being disqualified under the anti-defection law for launching HJC while being in the Congress.

In Indri, Congress nominee Bhimsen Mehta had established an unassailable lead of over 5,000 votes over his nearest HJC rival Rakesh Kamboj after the tenth round of counting.

In Gohana, Congress candidate Jagbir Malik was leading by about 17,000 votes over his nearest INLD nominee K C Bangar after the eighth round of counting. HJC's Dharam Pal Malik was trailing at the third position.

Mr Kamboj (Indri) and Mr Malik (Gohana), both Bhajan Lal loyalists, were also disqualified under the anti-defection law for joining HJC while being in the Congress.
